GREATER MCLEAN CHAMBER LUNCHEON TO FEATURE METRORAIL EXTENSION PANEL DISCUSSION WITH NOTED EXPERTS

Event slated for Thursday beginning at 11:30am

McLean, Va. (February 28, 2007) — The Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce, a supporter of TysonsTunnel.org, will spotlight the continuing public debate over dueling tunnel and elevated-rail options for the 3.4-mile Metrorail extension through Tysons Corner during a panel discussion featuring three prominent architectural experts and a government watchdog at a luncheon Thursday. Panelists will discuss the latest developments of the Metrorail extension project and offer their recommendations for the construction of the extension through the Tysons area. The panel moderator will be Scott Monett, president of TysonsTunnel.org while the panelists will be:

  • Roger K. Lewis, an architect and a professor emeritus of architecture at the University of Maryland. Lewis has written the popular “Shaping the City” column in the Washington Post’s Saturday real estate section since 1984. He called on Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine (D) to re-examine the tunnel option in his Feb. 17 column;
  • Dr. Brenda Myers Bohlke, Ph.D., P.G., principal of Myers Bohlke Enterprise, an architectural firm specializing in tunnel design and construction. Bohlke served on the Dulles Metrorail Tunnel Review Panel, which independently reviewed the Metrorail alternatives and recommended a tunnel be constructed;
  • William B. Gallagher Jr., AIA, partner of KGP Design Studio. Gallagher leads the firm’s urban design and planning studio. He has been involved in creating and integrating transit systems, including Metrorail, that have played vital roles in the development of communities in local and regional environments; and
  • Christopher J. Farrell, a Board member and director of investigations and research for Judicial Watch. At Judicial Watch, Farrell focuses on transparency, accountability and integrity in government, politics and the law and has appeared on numerous national TV and radio shows, written numerous articles and lectured on government corruption and intelligence issues.
