TYSONSTUNNEL TO HOLD INFORMATION-FUNDRAISING EVENT
MAY 19 AT CAFÉ OGGI IN MCLEAN

State Sen. Petersen and Dranesville Supervisor Foust to Attend

TYSONS CORNER, VA (April 30) — To demonstrate its determination and commitment to keep fighting for competitive bidding for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project and a tunnel for Tysons Corner, TysonsTunnel will hold an informational event and fundraiser May 19.

The community-action group is pushing forward its call for competitive bidding despite last week’s news that the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will commit $158.7 million to use toward completion of a financial plan, construction plans, detailed engineering specifications and cost estimates, as well as other technical requirements.

TysonsTunnel is inviting its supporters throughout Northern Virginia to the May 19 event to show everyone—elected officials, government agencies, the community and all Northern Virginians—that the fight isn’t over.

The event will be held May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Café Oggi, which is located at 6671 Old Dominion Drive in McLean. State Sen. Chap Petersen, Dranesville Supervisor John Foust and TysonsTunnel President Scott A. Monett will answer attendee questions about the next steps in the Dulles Rail Project and how members of the community can continue to have their voices heard.

“TysonsTunnel and its tens of thousands of supporters will not throw in the towel!” Monett stated. “Northern Virginians who support TysonTunnel want the Commonwealth to fully explain why competitive bidding is unnecessary. We urge all TysonsTunnel supporters to come out May 19 to show that the fight ‘Still Isn’t Over…’”.

TysonsTunnel supporters who want to attend the May 19 event are asked to RSVP by May 17 to Tatyana Schum at tschum@tysonstunnel.org. TysonsTunnel is asking attendees for a minimum $35 dollar donation (more is greatly appreciated). There will be hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. VIEW AND DOWNLOAD THE EVENT FLIER (PDF)

Tysons Tunnel represents an unprecedented coalition of community associations, small businesses, environmental groups, landowners, civic groups, homeowner associations, major corporations and private citizens calling for competitive bidding of the Metrorail extension to Dulles Airport and supporting construction of a tunnel under Tysons Corner.
